Matt brings over 12 years of estate administration knowledge and experience to the table, which is invaluable in assisting our clients with estate matters. In February 2007 Matt began a new career as a Deputy Clerk of Superior Court at the Wake County Courthouse where he served as department head for the finance division and then as an estates clerk specializing in estate administration, guardianships, and trusts. Having grown up around the judicial system he naturally felt at home in the courthouse. During his time with the Wake County Clerk of Court’s office, he also served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem, regularly visiting children in foster care and advocating for them before the court.
In February 2019 Matt transferred to the Johnston County Clerk of Court’s office where he continued to assist the public in estate matters. In October 2019, Matt left the courts to come to Eldreth Law Firm, PLLC. He understands that many of our clients are dealing with one of the hardest times in their lives following the passing of a loved one and his compassion and understanding often bring relief and reassurance to our clients during this difficult time.
Matt Parker is a native of Wake County having been born in Raleigh and raised in Garner. During his youth, Matt’s mother owned a small business in Downtown Raleigh directly behind the Wake County Courthouse where Matt would spend much of his time during summers and school holidays visiting clerks, attorneys, and judges. This is where his passion for the legal profession began.
After graduating from Garner Senior High School in 1994, Matt attended East Carolina University studying fine arts. In 1999 Matt obtained his life/health insurance license and began working with Combined Insurance Company of America as a sales agent. After three years of sales, Matt became the regional administrator for eastern North Carolina, with his region extending from Chatham County to the coast. This large region consisted of over 200 insurance agents which he helped to manage and support.
Matt continues to reside in Garner with his two labs, Louie and Roxy. He is active in several social organizations and actively supports the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford as well as other charitable organizations.
